Kasımpaşa Coach Burak Yılmaz made striking statements in a live broadcast on HT Sports. The young coach engaged in the long-debated issue of domestic-foreign referees that has been occupying Turkish football for a while and used bold expressions.

WORDS ON SAMSUNSPOR AND BEŞİKTAŞ MATCH

Burak Yılmaz’s statements are as follows;

“The national break was very good for us. After taking 3 days off, we took 3 days off with the comfort of the victory. Our players had not taken a long break for a while. Then we are preparing nicely. We have no injuries. The Alanyaspor match before the national break was critical for us, we had not been able to get the rewards of our game for weeks. The Alanyaspor match was a game where we got the reward for good performance. We went into the national break with this morale. We are focused on the Samsunspor match. Samsunspor has a very important atmosphere, they are currently in third place but we go out to win every match. We have no doubts. We have shown this before in big matches. We will respect Samsunspor, take the necessary precautions and aim to win.

Speaking about the Beşiktaş match is not right at the moment. We are thinking about Samsunspor match. We are completely focused on the Samsunspor match. There is still plenty of time until that match. We have done our analysis. Samsunspor has areas where they are very good. We have identified their strengths that give them an advantage. We have also identified their weaknesses. We are working on them. Samsunspor is a very valuable team. They are not a team that is here by chance. We love such matches, I think we can play better in such atmospheres. We have no doubts. I am hopeful, I think we have prepared very well.

“I AM AGAINST FOREIGN REFEREES”

As a nationalist, I believe that our league should be run by Turkish referees, with their faults and merits. I think having foreign referees will lead us to more chaos. I do not think that having foreign VAR referees has solved anything. I am definitely against foreign referees, I do not think it is right. I believe that Turkish people should definitely referee matches.

“WE SHOULD SUPPORT LOCAL REFEREES”

I am definitely against foreign referees. I believe that Turkish referees can handle every match like lions. It is necessary to stand behind these people and support them. I am always on their side. They have hurt me a lot too but bless them.

“THEY ARE NOT MALICIOUS”

They have hurt me a lot too. Both in my career as a player and as a coach… Bless them. I do not think they are malicious. I think they make mistakes. If we want to go somewhere with Turkish football, we definitely need Turkish referees.

“LOCAL PLAYERS SHOULD PLAY MORE”

The freedom of foreigners creates a desire, admiration in everyone for foreigners. I do not agree with this. The players who have taken our football to a higher level always have a special place for us but just because there is freedom for foreigners, it doesn’t mean we should bring any foreigner who runs fast here and call them footballers. I am in favor of Turkish players getting more playing time. But of course they also need to get their act together, they need to be ambitious, they should not give up. They should put their heads down and think about not leaving their bread to others in their own country. Our Turkish players definitely need to think about this.”
